With its private island and its 6 beaches, 5* Shangri La Le Touessrok is a playground for the whole family. Shangri La La Touessrok is a wonderful base to explore the island's rich landscapes and diverse culture.
Top reasons why Claire loves Shangri La Le Touessrok
I visited Shangri La Le Touessrok in January 2023, and I felt like it was a slice of paradise away from all the stresses of everyday life.
I just loved the private island, Ilot Mangenie, which I think sets this resort apart - you take a 10 minute boat ride to the island and you can enjoy the beach restaurant (and delicious pizzas!) or a spa treatment in the island's beautiful natural surroundings.
I visited the resort when it was at full capacity and I was surprised how quiet the resort felt even at busy times, with so many beaches and different spaces.
The staff told me about families who come back each year, one family has been coming for 40 years, a great opportunity for children to make life-long friends.
I was really impressed by the kids club and the wide range of activities it offers, including excursions on land and sea.
Safety is their upmost priority, with lifeguards on duty at every pool, they even take a lifeguard with them for kid's club excursions. Lifeguards are not a requirement in Mauritius, but as a parent with young children I find them very reassuring and give me peace of mind.
Room Tip
Ground level Frangipani Suites give families direct access to the beach and club benefits such as sunset free-flow drinks each night and a la carte breakfast on the beach every morning.
The only downside I found at the Shangri La is the size and design of the rooms, the rooms and junior suites can feel a little cramped for a family of 4 and their last renovation was in 2015. So if you are looking for a bit more space, I would recommend going for connecting rooms or one-bedroom suites.
The Kids Club organises lots of exciting activities: fishing trips, glass-bottom boat rides, pizza making in their own pizza oven, etc...
