Lux Grand Gaube
Lux Grand Gaube***** is an all-inclusive Insta-worthy resort located in the north of Mauritius. It combines the luxuries you would expect from a 5-star hotel and the laid-back island vibes you look for in a family holiday.
Top reasons why Claire loves Lux Grand Gaube
I spent a family holiday at Lux Grand Gaube in 2019.
I just love the style of the Lux Grand Gaube, Kelly Hoppen's design is spot on - island laidback luxury. The impressive reception, opening up to the Indian Ocean sets the scene for a perfect holiday. I love the different pops of colour around resort, combined with the serene and cool decor of the rooms.
I am a big fan of the Lux brand, with its plastic-free policy and its personal touches around the resort which include searching for a message in the bottle around the resort every day to win a prize, a red phone box to call home for free, the wishing tree to leave a message for the next time you visit, etc...
The food a Lux Grand Gaube is also a highlight with a range of dining options, including an incredible buffet and sit-down restaurants offering cuisines from around the world, all in very unique settings. Our favourite was Under The Banyan, an outdoor creole restaurant in an natural and intimate setting with lots of beautiful fairy lights.
We also loved the keen on Green concept: Local, vegan, raw, vegetarian menus in all restaurants and every restaurant has a different kids menu, inspired by their specialty.
Lux has its own brand of South African wine called Scrucap. My husband is a bit of a wine connoisseur and we were very impressed by this wine offered as part of the all-inclusive package.
Room tip
As the resort is set on a peninsula, everywhere you look you can see the ocean or the lagoon and therefore every room has a sea view. For a quieter room, the ocean view rooms are perfect. We stayed in a family room, which was a one-bedroom suite, it was perfect for our family of 4 and would be large enough to accomodate a family with teenagers or even 4 adults, as there were even 2 bathrooms!
